The museum is currently closed for elevator replacement and updates to the permanent exhibitions. During this time, we will also make necessary improvements to the visitor environment – and create something new!
The National Property Board (Statens fastighetsverk) is carrying out an elevator replacement in the building, and in connection with this, necessary updates are being made to the permanent exhibitions and visitor areas.
As part of the work, sections of the collections have been relocated and protected. The museum will therefore remain closed to the public during this period, with the exception of conference activities and research visits.
During the closure, the Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities will continue its activities through collaborations, off-site programs, and digital initiatives.
The museum is planned to reopen in autumn 2026, featuring an updated permanent exhibition and a new temporary exhibition in the Sculpture Hall.
